No fishery on earth produces sailfish like the Central Pacific coast off Jacó, Los Sueños and Quepos. Lit up in electric blues and purples, tail-walking across the surface, the Pacific sailfish is the reason anglers cross the world to fish here. Multiple-release days are common in the peak season, and every fish is released to keep the fishery world-class.

Where & when

Blue water 15–40 miles offshore, over seamounts, current edges and the FADs (fish-aggregating buoys). A 20–60 minute run from Los Sueños or Quepos puts you on them.

How we fish it

Trolling a teaser spread and pitching circle-hook ballyhoo is the classic method; fly and light-tackle release fishing are popular too. Circle hooks and quick releases are standard on our boats.
